Lieutenant-Colonel Angelo N. Caravaggio


 Lieutenant-Colonel Angelo N. Caravaggio has been an officer in the Canadian Forces for 33 years serving in numerous leadership positions across Canada and in NATO. He has been engaged in the development and delivery of advanced professional military education for the past eleven years specializing in command and leadership curriculum and was appointed to his current position as Director, Centre for National Security Studies at the Canadian Forces College Toronto (CFC) in 2010. Previously, Lieutenant-Colonel Caravaggio held positions as the Chair, Department of Command and Leadership and Chair Executive Development, where he was responsible for the development and delivery of executive level leadership programs for senior officers and civilian executives of the Department of National Defence and Public Service. Dr Caravaggio lectures to business, police forces and universities audiences on leadership and executive leadership development

Lieutenant-Colonel Caravaggio has a Masters degree in War Studies, a Masters degree in Defence Studies and a Ph. D in military history from Wilfrid Laurier University. Dr Caravaggio is also a faculty member at the Schulich Executive Education Centre lecturing on leadership in their Security and Public Safety Leadership Masters Certificate Program and is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Military Strategic and Disarmament Studies at Wilfrid Laurier University. Dr Caravaggio’s article The Attack at Taranto: Tactical Success Operational Failure was the 2007 Edward S. Miller Award winner for best historical essay published in the U.S. Naval War College Review.

Lieutenant-Colonel Caravaggio was appointed to the Order of Military Merit (Officer) in 1999 and is an alumnus of the Governor General’s Canadian Leadership Conference 2004.      .
