In September, Tim Cook launched his new book The Fight for History: 75 Years of Forgetting, Remembering, and Remaking Canada’s Second World War. His talk is now available below and on our YouTube channel.

Based on his new book, historian and best-selling author Tim Cook explores how the Second World War has been remembered, forgotten and remade by Canadians for 75 years. While the Great War became a touchstone, the legacy of the Second World War has been a more complicated struggle in Canada’s collective memory, coming to terms with battles won and lost, Canadians’ relationship to veterans, and how the post-war period created profound shifts in the country.

Our webinar series is finished for 2020 but you can join us again on 13 January for our next talk, “Bio-Imperialism: Disease, Terror, and the Construction of National Fragility” by Gwen D’Arcangelis. Stay tuned for the release of past webinars by David O’Keefe and Alex Souchen.
